As some of you might already know, Mr. Heston has kicked the bucket. Let’s review important facts of his life:
So in review this means: he was a cannibal, liked to shoot things, scared Micheal Moore out of his home, and say things like, “Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!”

This article at salon reads with a pretty heavy bias but it’s still good news. The Democratic Party isn’t totally worthless it seems. No retroactive immunity to telecoms for breaking the law.
Retroactive immunity. What a horrible horrible idea. The Nazis had retroactive immunity that they made the Jews wear. Well maybe not but still.

I was emailed a link to this article this morning about the “angry white man” voting block in our country. Pretty funny.
Snippets:
The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.
He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

While I haven’t found a complete transcript of last night’s debate yet, Fox has an article about it that contains some of the sound bites. Since that’s all that modern debates are it may actually be an accurate representation but I doubt it.
Oh Lincoln-Douglas debates, where have you gone?
Anyway, it seems to me that Ron Paul did awesome last night. First he won the text message poll that Fox held (which coincidentally appears to have vanished from their website) and his responses that I have been able to find so far seem awesome. The “focus group” that Fox created found that Thompson was the winner but they also said they might not vote for him. I’m attributing this to the Fox News/Sean Hannity style “Anyone But Paul” campaign that seems to be going strong.
Maybe you should quit reading this and go here.

Some of you might be aware of my dislike for Binding Arbitration. So we see a mix of that with occupational hazards for contractors in Iraq in this story about a woman’s time in a shipping container. It doesn’t seem as good as some other’s time in a shipping container.
But back to the story – because of binding Arbitration and the fact it happened in Iraq it looks like she gets the short straw. Not fun. There are plenty of better ways to be bound.
(Editor’s note: There may very well still be criminal charges filed, especially considering how much media attention this is starting to get. Arbitration only applies to civil cases.)
(Editor’s Editor’s note: Bush has given many of the contractors in Iraq the ability to get out criminal charges for stuff that happens over there and it did happen in Iraq. They might have be able to press criminal charges.)

Or brave the wrath of none other than Chuck Norris.
You have been warned.
edit: When I was adding tags to this category, I noticed that the “Crazy-Awesome” category does not include a “Chuck Norris” subcategory. I believe this should be changed.

I was sent a really short political quiz this morning with pretty crappy questions. By crappy I mean the possible answers didn’t line up with my opinions at all. Then I went to SelectSmart.com since I remembered that site and they had a better quiz. I’d recommend you try it and see if you also should vote for Theoretical Ideal Candidate.
My results after the break.

Here in the beautiful state of Michigan, our legislature is debating how much to increase or income and sales taxes by. They were debating whether to increase them at all; but those days are long gone. Cause, yanno, it’s a lot easier to tax your state’s residents to raise an extra $1 billion than it is to find ways to spend less money so said $1 billion isn’t needed at all.
