35, Fat & Depressed

According to a recent CDC study, the average gamer is all three of those things. Apparently, no one who posts on abodes is an average gamer. None of us is 35 years old, nor do I believe any of us is depressed. The study was done in in Seattle, a city I that’s kinda known for having high rates of depression. As for the weight issue, what American (celebrities don’t count) couldn’t stand to lose a few pounds? Really, this just seems like a poorly constructed study. But it’s more fun to just argue with the results & say the CDC is wrong.

Also, who comes up with the ideas for these studies anyway? And if I can’t be a Cocktail Historian, how do I get a job conducting them?

Katamari

The wife and I (primarily her, I have RSV2 to play) and it got me thinking, “What could we really use a katamari for?” Here are some suggestions. Add your own.

Garbage pickup (like BFI or Waste Management)
Removing pet hair from practically everything
Strip mining
Fishing
Farming (replace harvesters)
Really awesome snowballs
Mowing the lawn (after rolling up a bunch of razor blades)

I really want a katamari. Maybe if I get one I can roll up some presents too. Maybe even cousins.

Always on the bleeding edge of tech

My friends know that I’m always on the bleeding edge of technology (which is like the cutting edge only more so). So I just bought an Xbox 360. So far I like the following things:

a) it’s been out for so long games are cheap
b) it has a real gamepad which I prefer to the wiimote
c) theoretically I’ll be able to get free demos and games and stuff from the live thinga

I say theoretically because I have to get it on the tubes first. My wireless router is downstairs so I either have to a) shell out $100 for the xbox wireless, b) finagle a wire up there somehow or c) rig up some other wireless setup. Last night I played with the connection sharing in leopard and all it did was make my internet not work at all. I’m pondering putting my router in the living room and putting a wireless card in a pc in the basement.

The wii came with wireless. That’s one thing in its favor. That and Zack and Wiki. I mean, you shake your friggin monkey to beat monsters. And you are a pirate.

You don’t have a desktop tower? Get one and then play Desktop Tower Defense.

Also, if when you are done you submit your score and put in the group “abodes” all of our scores will be comparable here. I see that there are multiple “sloth” entries but I only made the last one. 5467 on Medium.
