Come now. I didn’t always make up names. Sometimes I just said you were talking to some guy but then a certain person coughjoshuacough would press the issue. Then for a brief period of time I tried writing down names that came up. After that I just made them up again on the fly. Funny enough, Tolkien used the same method.

The worst was always inn names though. I believe all inns follow this formula: “The <present participle verb> <animal noun>”. The Prancing Pony. The Humping Lizard. The Pontificating Platypus. That sort of name.
